Take the Time to Have Fun in Life

February 26th, 2013 → 11:12 pm @

Life is a beautiful, precious gift. But so often we don’t take the time to appreciate it!

When was the last time that you took the time to have fun in your life? To deliberately and intentionally savor the beauty that exists all around you?

Most of us, if we are being honest, will admit that we don’t spend enough time enjoying life. We spend so much of our time working just to pay the bills and “keep up with the Jones’s”. When we’re not working, we’re staring down at our mobile devices or listening to the TV blaring in the background. In fact, sometimes it seems like we have constructed our entire culture with the goal of occupying and distracting ourselves from what really matters in life.

Think about it for a moment -–do you spend more time texting and emailing your friends and family than you do talking to them face to face? Do you spend more time each day on your computer than you do enjoying your most treasured relationships?

Now, I understand that for many of us, we don’t have complete control over how we spend our time. We have to pay the bills, after all.

But here is my challenge to you: intentionally take time just to have fun! Take a look at what you are doing during the day and ask yourself how you could find more time for the people, places, and things that are most important to you.

Spend more quality time with your loved ones. Take the time to listen or dance to your favorite music. Paint the picture that you’ve always wanted to create. Go for a long bike ride through the park. Curl up with a good book and just relax.

Life is too short to spend it “just getting by.”  Happiness really is a choice, so you might as well consciously create happiness in your life. Enjoy life to the fullest and make sure to take the time to have fun! It truly will make a world of difference!

Many blessings to you!

Rita Gigante, Author of The Godfather’s Daughter: An Unlikely Story of Love, Healing, and Redemption will be my guest on the next Angel Quest Radio Show on Saturday, March 2 at 1:05pm Eastern Time.

February 21st, 2013 → 8:21 am @

On the surface, Rita Gigante’s family looked like all the other Italian Catholics in her suburban New Jersey neighborhood. But behind closed doors, they had a secret – her father was notorious crime boss Vincent “the Chin” Gigante, head of all five New York crime families.

In The Godfather’s Daughter, Rita talks about her spiritual journey as she unravels the mysteries of her family and herself, and learns what it means to live in the truth she finds. It’s a real-life father-daughter tale of betrayal and faith, and how a young woman escapes from a spiraling darkness to reach the light. In the end, with his daughter’s healing help, even the Godfather learns to live in the light and atone for what he has done.

The Author Rita Gigante has dedicated her adult life to healing people spiritually, emotionally, and physically. She has a degree in exercise physiology, and is a licensed massage therapist and Reiki master. In 2010 she formed the Collective Healing Network, which is a group of healers that conducts monthly sessions in New York and New Jersey. Rita also has a private practice outside of New York City, where she practices healing methods that include energy therapy, intuitive healing, spiritual counseling, sound therapy, and angel readings.

It’s going to be an interesting show, so be sure to tune in on March 2 at 1:05pm Eastern time. Just go to www.wrcr.com and click onto “listen live.”

Trust Your Intuition – Not the Noise that Surrounds You

February 18th, 2013 → 4:35 pm @

Every day, each one of us is exposed to a great deal of external “noise.” And much of this noise takes the form of advice –the TV, newspapers and magazines expressing different issues, and friends or acquaintances’ different ideas. There is nothing wrong with external opinions—sometimes there is a lot we can learn from the wisdom of others.

But in today’s culture, there is so much going on “out there” that many of us forget to listen to our own intuition. And when we stop listening to ourselves and trusting our inner voice, we are prone to making decisions that take us out of our true self and force us to conform to the opinions of others.

This may sound like a bold statement, but it’s true: if you can train yourself to trust your own intuition, you are going to be happier, more fulfilled, and more at peace. The truth is that those around you, even if they have the best of intentions, simply can’t know what’s best for you in the way that your own intuition does. Your intuition is God within you – speaking to you about what is right for you!

So listen to your intuition! Listen to it in big matters, like important life decisions. Listen to it in smaller matters, like day-to-day decisions or relationships. Stay true to your inner self.

Again — while there is often wisdom to be found in listening to others, it is up to you to be discerning… to separate your inner knowingness from the noise around you. And when your intuition is telling you something different from those around you, learn to trust your soul, the God within you, and always stay true to yourself.

Many blessings to you!

Begin Your Day By Counting Your Blessings

January 28th, 2013 → 4:29 pm @

How can we find more peace and joy in our everyday lives?  Most people are so focused on what they think are the “big” things in their lives – their jobs, classes they take, paying their bills, etc.- that they forget to slow down, smell the roses, and make the most out of each day. As I often tell my friends and clients, one of the best ways to enrich your daily life is very simple: begin each day by counting your blessings.

I mean that literally. Make a commitment to yourself that the first thing you’ll do each day when you get up is identify 10 blessings in your life. They can be little things, like “I’m thankful for the bed I’m sleeping in” or bigger things like, “I’m thankful I am healthy.” There are no rules—the point is to just take the time to think about the good things in your life.

The beauty of this exercise is that you will begin each day with the right mindset. Instead of spending your day looking for things to complain about, you will spend it looking at the positives. This will help you to appreciate the beam of sunlight within the storm.

Sure, there will be days when life will be tough. But even on the worst days, I assure you that you’ll be able to find plenty of things to appreciate. And the best part is that when you appreciate all that you have and look for the blessings around you, you’ll find that even more great things will come to you!

As the Law of Attraction says, “You get what you think about most of the time.” SO start the day off right. When you wake up in the morning, count your blessings! You will see – your whole day will truly be better – just because you took the time to smell the roses!

Many blessings to you!

What the World Needs Now is Peace, Sweet Peace

December 27th, 2012 → 11:14 pm @

2012 is drawing to a close, and while it has been a beautiful year in many respects, it has been marred by too many tragedies and acts of violence.

The most obvious happened just recently in Connecticut, when a town and many innocent families had their lives turned upside down in a horrible tragedy.

The act sparked an instant reaction in the media, amongst friends and family, and even on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. Sadly, the tragic nature of the event sparked many conversations focused on violence and hatred.

Let’s resolve for today and for the New Year to try to focus on peace, instead of the violence that is happening in the world. Remember, energy flows where attention goes. Even when you may be experiencing sorrow and anger, try to make a conscious effort to focus on peace and love, not negative emotions.

What does the world need now? The answer is very simple: peace, sweet peace.

Let’s spread peace and talk about it a lot! Let’s post stories of love on our Facebook pages and focus all our energy on what we want, instead of what we don’t want. That’s what we can do when tragedy strikes. We can try to shift the energy, and make the world a better place. Remember, when we turn on the light, the darkness goes away.

It won’t always be easy. When bad things happen around us, many of us find that it is hard to think about anything else. And in today’s media environment, where tragedies make the headlines, it can be nearly impossible to focus on anything else.

The next time a tragedy strikes, whether it is something personal in your own life, or whether it is a national story like the events in Connecticut, do your best to block out the negativity. Turn off the TV and log out of Facebook if you must. Take some time to rest and reflect on everything that you love about the world. Find the beauty that resonates in your soul. Dwell on the peace that you experience in your calmest moments. And visualize the beauty that would unfold in the world if peace and love replaced violence and hatred.

Once you have a strong picture in your mind and strong feelings of peace flowing through you, spread that feeling to others. Encourage your friends and family. Talk to them about the beauty in the world, not the tragedy. Visit Facebook and encourage your friends there to dwell on the positive, not the negative… even in the midst of tragedy.

What the world needs now is peace. And by dwelling on peace instead of violence and hatred, we can each do our part to usher peace into this world.

Have a wonderful peaceful New Year! xoxo
