How to Move Forward After the Loss of a Loved One

December 8th, 2014 → 1:39 am @

After suffering a loss, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to take care of whatever needs to be done. Hopefully you’ll have friends and family that will be there to help you. Give yourself sufficient time just to cry and reminisce. Don’t begin to settle legal issues, go through your loved one’s belongings, or whatever else needs to be accomplished until you are completely ready.

At some point, though, it’ll be time to return to your every day routine. You’ll have to go back to work and continue with your usual activities. While moving on with your life may be the last thing on your mind, concentrating on something other than your loss may be exactly what you need in order to begin your healing process.

Here are some ways that can help you to move forward after the loss of a loved one:

Start focusing on something other than your loss. As much as it may seem like you’re severing the ties between you and your loved ones, this is never the case —

they are still with you and are able to communicate with you, give you signs to let you know they are there, and help you in ways they never could before.

Set goals and stay busy. After a loss, you may want to reevaluate your life and begin to make changes that will cheer you up, like deciding to travel more, taking a class, or even just planting a garden. Keep busy as you work towards your new goals, and check them off as you accomplish each one.

Spend quality time with others. Lean on the love and support of your friends, family, and community as you transition back to your normal life. This includes pets, too! When you’re surrounded with those you love, it can make getting back to normal much easier.

Banish guilt. It’s normal to feel like you could have done something differently during your loved one’s life, or even that you could have prevented his or her death. Know that your loved one is in a place of complete love now, where blame and guilt don’t exist. Your loved one now knows your good intentions and sees the bigger perspective of why you did or didn’t do certain things.

Keep their memory alive. When you’re transitioning back into normal life, you may feel called to keep your loved one’s memory alive in a way that’s visible to the world. There are so many ways you can do this, from planting a tree to donating a park bench, or even setting up a charity or scholarship in his or her name.

It’s okay to be happy again. Remember, if you decide to move on and live your life to the fullest, it doesn’t mean you have forsaken your departed loved ones, or that you have put them out of your mind! As a matter of fact, it’s quite the opposite. You will always love and never forget them. You have been so blessed, not only because they were physically with you when they were here on earth, but also because they are still by your side, watching over and protecting you in more ways than they ever could before!

Many blessings to you, now and always!

Ways to Heal Your Grief During the Holidays

December 4th, 2014 → 3:39 pm @

The holiday season can be especially difficult after you’ve lost someone you love!

Here are five steps you can take to heal, not only during the holidays, but throughout the rest of the year as well.

1. Be Honest About Your Feelings. The best holiday gift you can give yourself is to honor your feelings. Grieving takes time! And, if feelings of happiness do arise, let them! Remember, your departed loved ones want you to be happy and move on with your life.

2. Practice Different Healing Techniques. There are many healing techniques that can help you immensely, such as the Emotional Freedom Technique, Ho’oponopono, energy healing, prayer, meditation, and positive thinking.  I talk about each one of these in more detail in my book, Your Life After Their Death: A Medium’s Guide to Healing After a Loss.  Some techniques may resonate with you more than others; so make sure to practice the ones that you feel most guided to use.

3. Treat Yourself.  What makes your spirit soar? Make sure to do these things during this season. Don’t forget that self-care can be as simple as spending quality time with your pets, going on a walk, or being with family and friends.

4. Maintain Your Connection With Your Loved Ones. Talk to your deceased loved ones; write letters to them; learn how to receive messages from them; go to a reputable medium who can receive messages for you. Your loved ones want to communicate with you as much as you want to communicate with them, especially during the holiday season!

5. Ask for “Without a Doubt Signs” from Them. Then after you ask, just be patient and wait, and you will receive these wonderful signs. Signs can come in the form of animals, objects in your path, fragrances, songs, specific numbers, dreams, or in many other ways!

May you find peace and comfort during this holiday season and always!

Many blessings to you!

8 Things You Need to Know About Visiting a Medium

November 25th, 2014 → 12:54 pm @

Whether you’re waiting for your first sign from a deceased loved one or seeking confirmation about a sign you’ve already received, seeing a medium can help you make or reaffirm a meaningful connection. Mediums read energy and interpret signals they receive from the spirit world and can help you establish communication. Here is what you need to know before, during, and after your appointment.

Get a recommendation from a trusted source.

It’s important to go to a medium with a good reputation both online and by word of mouth. The best mediums incorporate healing work into their sessions and receive specific, significant messages from your loved ones. That is why they are often booked for months, sometimes years, in advance.

Look for communication via signs and dreams while you wait.

Patience is key when awaiting signs from those who have passed. If you receive a signal before your appointment, that’s great news! Your medium can reaffirm and even expand upon the message for you.

Set the intention of connecting with your loved one.

Clear your mind and know deep in your heart that you will make a connection. You can even visualize the soul in question and tell him or her that you would like to connect.

Bring a picture or a significant object of your loved one.

This is not to give away information to the medium; in fact, it’s a good idea to keep your item stashed away until very specific details have been revealed. Having a tangible object will help you and your medium better connect with the right person’s energy at your meeting.

Be open to receiving whatever is coming through.

Sometimes a reading will present you with information that you don’t understand at the time, and that’s okay. Know that the message is coming through because it was meant to – so remember to remain open-minded to symbols that might make sense later on. (What this doesn’t mean is accepting messages that don’t resonate with you).

Don’t despair if no contact is made.

Sometimes it’s just not the right time, or the spirit you’re seeking is not there. Mediums can’t make souls enter the room. Also, spirits that have been gone a long time are not as anxious to come through as when they first passed. Don’t worry, though — it’s not impossible to connect with them, just a little harder.

After your appointment, you should feel great!

Knowing your deceased loved one is okay and aware of what’s going on in your world feels wonderful. Make sure to share your experience with family and friends to help them along in their healing process.

Continue to ask for “without a doubt” signs.

Although one reading is generally all that’s needed to connect with your deceased loved one, there’s no limit on how many signs you can receive on your own. You can always see a medium again if you would like additional messages and healing, but the best kind of connection happens when your deceased loved one comes and gives information directly to you.

Acclaimed Psychic Medium Karen Noé Says Scents are Reliable Signs from Deceased Loved Ones

November 24th, 2014 → 3:02 pm @

Karen Noé, author and founder of the Angel Quest Center, explains that not all signs from beyond are seen, heard, or felt — oftentimes, they are smelled.

Ramsey, NJ — Nov 24, 2014 — Renowned psychic medium and author Karen Noé published a new blog post entitled “Scent: The Invisible Without-a-Doubt Sign from Deceased Loved Ones.” In the article, she explains that sudden or unexpected smells are often signs from loved ones who have passed away.

Noé says, “We instantly recognize smells we’ve forgotten about, and often they trigger powerful memories. This is why our deceased loved ones like to use scents as invisible, but meaningful, signs that they are there. When a deceased loved one uses scent to contact us, the fragrance is usually out of context and has no other logical explanation.”

Scent: The Invisible Without-a-Doubt Sign from Deceased Loved Ones

November 20th, 2014 → 8:56 pm @

All it takes is one whiff, and the memories flood back to us. Do you remember how your grandmother’s house smelled? The perfume your mother wore? Or the fragrance of your sister’s favorite flowers? In life, we are surrounded by smells, but we don’t always realize what certain ones mean to us until the loved ones we associate them with have passed on.

The good news is that we instantly recognize smells we’ve forgotten about, and often they trigger powerful memories. This is why our deceased loved ones like to use scents as invisible, but meaningful, signs that they are there. When a deceased loved one uses scent to contact us, the fragrance is usually out of context and has no other logical explanation.

Take Barbara’s beautiful story, for instance. A pool lifeguard, Barbara was on duty the day her grandfather passed. But before she heard the news from her family, she received a sign from her grandfather: the scent of his cigar smoke. It was a beautiful, clear August day when it happened. With just a few swimmers in the pool, Barbara could focus her gaze, but let her mind wander free. A gentle breeze kicked up and brought a loving scent to her nose — cigar smoke, just like her grandfather’s. Who? Where? she thought, looking around the pool, but nobody was there but the swimmers. Barbara started to doubt her nose, but then the breeze kicked up again. She was certain she smelled cigar smoke. Just then, she was pulled away for a phone call from her mom, and she knew her grandfather had unexpectedly passed away. He had stopped by the pool to let her know that he was alright — still smoking his favorite cigar — and that he loved her.

Barbara still smells cigar smoke from time to time, and she knows her grandfather is there, sending his love to her. So when you’re looking for a sign from a loved one, remember that there’s more to it than looking — pay attention to all of your senses, and your sign will come in the right form at the right time.

How to Interpret Symbols from Deceased Loved Ones

October 21st, 2014 → 1:32 pm @

What do you do when you receive a sign from a deceased loved one and you don’t know what it means? These types of signs usually contain a symbol — something that stands for an idea, feeling, or person without literally representing it. Symbols are open to interpretation, so it takes extra care to make sure you’re interpreting the right message from the other side.

This is one reason it’s best to start by learning how to receive messages for others before doing it for yourself. Begin with somebody you don’t know. You’ll find it’s easier to be objective about the messages and symbols that pop into your head because it’s outside your personal frame of reference.

Be aware of how you naturally receive messages before interpreting symbols. Are you a visual person? You might get the clearest messages clairvoyantly, seeing symbols in your mind’s eye. If you’re an auditory person, you might hear a song, a word, or a sound clairaudiently. Maybe you’re claircognizant, extra-sensitive to surrounding energies with a sense of knowing. Pay special attention to how you best receive messages to get more clarity around the symbols at hand.

Ready to interpret a symbol? Start by asking yourself what it means to you. Years ago, the old TV show Bonanza came up in a reading I was doing. The woman was too young to be familiar with the show, and I didn’t have a particular attachment to it, either. All that came to me was one of the character names, Hoss. As it turns out, this was the name of somebody very significant to the young woman’s life. Bonanza was a symbol for this person, and one I would have missed, too, had I not started by analyzing what it meant to me.

Be specific when you relay the messages you receive. You can’t always know whether a particular detail will be significant, so make sure to describe names, places, objects, or feelings you get. Sometimes it just takes the right phrasing to let the other person know without a doubt that you are speaking to their loved ones. What might seem insignificant to you could be symbolic of something very important to them.

Your messages from the other side will not always be obvious, which is why you can’t give up if they don’t immediately ring any bells. When you get a clear symbol, it usually does mean something, but sometimes neither you nor the other person realizes it yet. I’ve found that sometimes, my clients will go home, talk to family members about the reading, and only then discover the meaning behind the message.

Remember, as long as it feels right, to accept the information you are given during a reading. It comes to you for a reason. Trust your inner guidance as you sift through the messages you receive and the symbols they contain. You will automatically resonate with the information you are intended to receive, and your intuition will guide you as you discover the meanings behind the symbols.
